The three types of Hajj from which one can choose to perform are Qiraan, Tamat'tu and Ifraad. The selection of any one of these is a matter of personal volition. Qiraan is considered most desirable and more rewarding, thereafter Tamat'tu and lastly Ifraad. The following pages depict the flow charts related to the different types of Hajj.
Qiraan has possibly 3 sets of Tawaaf, (Qudoom, which is optional; Ziyyaarat; Widaa'),and 1 set of Sa'ee, (Hajj), and 1 sacrifice, (Hady) is compulsory.
Tamat'tu has 3 sets of Tawaaf, (Umrah, Ziyyaarat, Widaa') and 2 sets of Sa'ee, (Umrah, Hajj), and 1 sacrifice, (Hady), is compulsory.
Ifraad has possibly 3 sets of Tawaaf , (Qudoom, which is optional; Ziyyaarat; Widaa'), and 1 set of Sa'ee, (Hajj), while the sacrifice, (Hady), is optional.
The Qaarin and Mufrid do not perform Umrah upon arrival in Makkah; instead they perform Tawaaful Qudoom, (welcome Tawaaf). It is also recommended for the Qaarin to perform the Sa'ee for Hajj. The Sa'ee is optional here for the Mufrid as it is recommended for him to perform it with Tawaaf-e-Ziyyaarat instead.
The Qaarin and the Mufrid may also opt to go directly to Mina on the 8th of Zil Hajj or to Arafat on the 9th of Zil Hajj from the Meeqat. Both will remain in Ihraam.
